Old Timers (35+) – 3 round robin games, no playoffs, just good old fashioned shiny!

12 team U11-U14 Tournament

Included with the youth tournament registration is a pizza party at the tournament for each youth team sponsored by Little Ceasors Trenton!

Registration deadline is January 30, 2023

Games will be Saturday 8am-10:30pm and Sunday 9am-3pm – players must be available to play during this time period.

Adult Games will be Saturday 8am-10:30pm and Youth games will be Sunday 9am-3pm – players must be available to play during this time period.

All teams will receive a copy of the rules and regulations in their Captain’s Package. It is the responsibility of the team Captain to ensure that each player on their team reads and understands the Rules and Regulations. All players must present a signed Agreement of the Rules and Regulations form and a Player Waiver form prior to playing in the tournament.

For the youth tournament each player must have a parent/guardian sign the waiver.

Most importantly, this is a Charity Tournament. Sportsmanship and cooperating with the volunteer officials will help make the event enjoyable for everyone involved.

Tournament Format

• Teams will consist of 6 – 8 players.
• Game play will be 4 on 4, no goalies. Youth teams must have at least 1 girl on the ice at all times.
• Games will be played in 2 x 15 minute periods with a 5 minute break in between periods.
• An off-ice official will monitor the game and keep score.
• Teams will switch ends at the half.
• Changes are allowed ‘on the fly’.

Tournament Play/Scorecards

• All goals must be scored from the ‘offensive zone’ which will be marked by the blue
  markers. The shot must be taken or tipped past this marker as verified by the off-ice official.
• If the puck goes out of play in the attacking end, the defending team gains automatic possession when the puck in introduced back into play, regardless of who it last touched.
• After a goal is scored, the opposing team will give half the ice to restart play.
• The off-ice official will keep a scorecard and will announce when a goal is scored.
• A mercy rule of a maximum 10 goal lead will be applied to the final score. This will be calculated by using the losing teams score and adding 10 goals to it.
• The captain of each team will review and sign the scorecard at the end of each game. Once each captain has signed the scorecard the score is official and the results are final.
• If there is a disagreement over the score, the issue is to be dealt with the Head Official or Tournament Organizer.

Penalties

• If a team is late by more than 5 minutes the they forfeit the game to a 10-0 score
• No goalies or goaltending – if caught goaltending (laying down their body, stick, knee, glove or any other part of their equipment in front of the net) a goal will be awarded to the opposing team.
• The off-ice official will give a player one warning for rough or unsportsmanlike play. A second warning will result in ejection from the game and possibly the tournament. A major incident will result in automatic ejection from the game. Fighting will not be tolerated.
• No checking or physical contact of any kind is allowed.
• Abusive language by a player towards another player or volunteer will not be tolerated.
• Abusive language towards any official will result in player suspension.
• Intent to injure another player, official or volunteer will result in immediate suspension.
• All calls made by the volunteer officials are final.

General Rules

• All players must be at least 16 years of age for the adult teams and atom age for the youth tournament.
• Slapshots are prohibited and will result in loss of possession.
• Do not raise your stick or puck above knee height. Doing so will result in loss of possession.
• Helmets, shin pads and hockey gloves are mandatory for all players. Military member must also wear a facemask. Youth players must wear a facemask and neck guard.
• Drinking is not permitted outside the Community Centre. Any player visibly intoxicated will not be allowed to play.

Standing Calculations

• A win is 3 points
• A tie is 1 point
• A loss is 0 points
• If two or more teams are tied with points, then the following calculation is completed:
  • Goals for are calculated
  • Goals against are calculated
  • The team with the best goals for to goals against ratio will be ranked highest
• If two teams are still tied then if the two teams have played against each other, the team with the win will be ranked highest. If the teams have not played against each other, then a coin toss with the team captains and tournament organizer will be completed to determine the final ranking.

Cancellation Policy

Registration payment is non-refundable.

If the tournament is cancelled due to weather, then your registration fee will be carried over (except for the youth teams) until next year based on the following schedule:

For the adult tournament: If your team only plays one (1) game, then $200.00 will be carried forward. If your team plays two (2) games, then $100.00 will be carried forward. Once your team has played three (3) games, your guaranteed games have been completed and no credit will be carried forward to next year.

For the Youth tournament: If your team only plays one (1) game, then $120.00 will be refunded. If your team plays two (2) games, then $60.00 will be refunded. Once your team has played three (3) games, your guaranteed games have been completed.

The tournament fee includes a $20 non-refundable admin fee. The tournament organizer has final call on the weather and rink conditions.
